The call is coming from inside the house.
As a human optimization LOVER and longevity seeker, I am the first to admit there are a few different pillars for excellence in both the optimization and longevity sector.
I’m not sure what level of crazy I inhabit but here we are - a saucy pair ( you and me ), so I’m gonna let it all hang out.
The other day a woman told me I looked 32. I said that is generous and she said “That’s not why I said it”. I was struck by this comment because it felt nice to receive it (whether or not she’s got vision issues will remain unclear) however I felt vindicated in my quest for agelessness.
It’s one of my favorite concepts - A G E L E S S N E S S.
I had a business coach tell me she “didn’t get it / it wasn’t clear / not super marketable”.
I smiled and mentally made note to get a second opinion.
Agelessness to me means “you at your most optimal”.
Feeling 25, Looking 35, Pursuing your best life like 55 yr old you would do.
Recently I heard (probably on TikTok because it’s a legit news source-I’ll fight you) that women felt the most happy in their 5th decade. The Harvard Study of Adult Development, a 75-year longitudinal study, reveals that strong, positive relationships and social connections are the most significant predictors of happiness, health, and longevity, far more than career success, wealth, or even good health.
Here's a more detailed look at the key findings:
The Power of Relationships: The study, led by Robert Waldinger, consistently demonstrates that good relationships are the foundation of a fulfilling life.
Beyond Quantity, Quality Matters: It's not just about having many friends or a partner, but the quality and warmth of those connections that truly matter.
Social Connection as a Protective Factor: Strong social bonds buffer against life's stresses, protect physical and mental health, and contribute to a longer, happier life.
Loneliness is Toxic: Conversely, isolation and loneliness are detrimental to well-being, leading to earlier health decline and shorter lifespans.
Nurturing Relationships: The study highlights the importance of actively cultivating and maintaining relationships, rather than assuming they will simply endure.
A Simple, Profound Conclusion: The core message is that prioritizing relationships, from casual social interactions to life partnerships, is the key to a good life.
The study started in 1938 and has tracked the lives of 724 men, including boys from disadvantaged and troubled families in Boston, and Harvard undergraduates. The study incorporated the spouses of the original men and, more recently, more than 1,300 descendants of the initial group
Above and beyond my quest for agelessness is the relationship under my nose, errr in my house. My body may be my physical home but the love within the walls of my house is where the real magic grows. Well, it’s more complicated on this side of 2023 but now that I know this information, I’m even more dedicated to tending to my relationships with my son, my immediate family, my close friends, my online community and people I’ve yet to meet.
A simple place to begin is with two valuable questions here: a) ARE YOU TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF and b) ARE YOU ON THE RECEIVING END OF HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS?
You can take charge of both and make enormous strides in your longevity.
Often what moves the needle the most is directly under your nose or even in your house.
Take the call.
