Bro.
If you are NOT in my immediate circle or living life side by side on social media, you likely didn’t hear that last Monday night I got violently ill and proceeded to vomit (OH HEY THIS ONE TALKS ABOUT VOMIT) every 20 minutes for nearly 24 hours and thennnnn every hour for the next twenty-four. So if you’re not great at math that’s nearly 2 days and 2 nights of what I like to call involuntary self abuse.
Yes I like hyperbole but this isn’t that.
It was so gnarly I googled mid puke, ‘Can you die from vomiting’….turns out no - you die from dehydration instead.
Cool.
The more you know.
Thanks to one of my besties who lives 3 streets down I got to urgent care in time to wait for 2.5 hours in a metal chair holding it down and then promptly after receiving my bag of fluids, puked it up in the trash can next to my bed.
Have you ever watched $150 just D I S A P P E A R before your eyes like that.
So cool.
My sweet, 80 yr old parents flew in Wednesday afternoon to surprise Beau for his end of year athletic banquet and sports games and just the busiest last week of 6th grade. God bless them because they ended up taking care of ME in the process as well.
Cherish your people. Cherish your friends that are family. Cherish your actual family. And above all your good health.
Once I got over my inability to drink water … so day 3.5 … I was trying to gain some perspective around what I’d just survived. I’m actually still trying to gain perspective but once I was able to think about anything other than how many minutes it had been since my last purge, I went to a favorite book.
The Untether Soul by Michael Singer.
You know it. You love it.
I opened up ‘randomly’ (is anything random) to a page on death.
As a self proclaimed “FEARER of the Reaper”, I’ve come a long way in the last two years. Nothing like avoiding something your entire life and then being smacked in the face with the exact thing you’ve been avoiding your whole life.
Needless to say the wisdom coming in from pages 162-164 was powerful.
Gripping, actually.
I’m paraphrasing, but here’s the gist…
“…Death actually gives meaning to life. Death is your friend. Death is your liberator. You fear death because you crave life. The wise person realizes that death is constantly giving them something. Death is giving meaning to your life. Death actually helps you get your life back by making you pay attention to the moment. Death is the landlord and you’re just a tenant. People say things like ‘he’s living on borrowed time’ or ‘he’s got a new lease on life’. From what or whom did he borrow the time? From death, of course. Feel grateful to death for giving you another day, another experience, and for creating the scarcity that makes life so precious. Don’t be afraid of death. Let it encourage you to experience life fully. But remember, it’s not your life. You should be experiencing the life that’s happening to you. Not the one you wish was happening. Don’t waste a moment of life trying to make other things happen; Appreciate the moment you were given. This is how you live your life. You live it as though you were on the verge of death, because you are.”
Everyone says to appreciate your health before you’re sick and that’s all you care about. Yet when you are in the throes of incredible hardship, remember we pay our dues, you’re never alone, and holy crap how precious is your life!!
Stay grateful and pay rent every day.
OKAYILOVEYOUBYEEE,
xx
Nic.

She’s a bestselling author of her book ABUNDANT EVER AFTER tools for creating a life of prosperity and ease,a spiritual business coach, podcast host of with over 50 million downloads, and a woman who somehow fuses entrepreneurship, mysticism, and manifestation into this spicy, soul-hitting cocktail of “YES, I CAN.” Cathy helps people break out of their stuckness and step into a life of purpose, abundance, and straight-up miracles — and no, that’s not an exaggeration. I need to put that on my phone wallpaper to read every day. The fear of death cripples me some days but then when I’m out of it I am more present and “alive” - purging is the worst and glad you are feeling better!
