Leave it to a stand up comedian to make me think.
Like realllllly unpack some things.
Did you watch it? Okay here’s the punchline…
This guy is addressing the fact that all these billionaires who were seemingly super nerdy are now rolling in their cash flow and getting jacked. I laughed out loud because my very first thought was “yeah, that’s what high performers do because they understand they’ll be more effective, more clear, more reliably useful when they are optimally strong and healthy. Duh.”
I’ve worked with A list celebrities, elite athletes, working mothers, stay at home mothers, businessmen, coaches, educators, and folks from nearly every possible walk of life. The one thing these people have in common is grit.
The backbone of working out is the habit formation of GRIT. You may think it’s about feeling confident in your tank tops this summer, stronger legs to hike the El Camino Real, to heal from the hip replacement, etc…
It’s GRIT.
I hate to break it to you.
Every obstacle you faced whether it’s personal, financial, relational, career driven or otherwise, is better tolerated when you’re healthy and strong.
Billionaires know this.
Billionaires have faced so many failures that I’m certain, despite aesthetics, the benefits of being strong and healthy only amplify what’s already working for them.
Plot twist, you don’t need to be a billionaire but you definitely need GRIT.
The other day I was reminiscing about my early 20s as a young, lost-ish, aspiring dancer/actress looking for clarity and direction in all aspects of my life. Every day took some level of grit to self motivate. Going to class, studying, continuous auditioning to the often resounding sound of ‘we’ll call you’ which was code for ‘no’. My slow grind to show up and stay the course was what was expected. That’s the life of an artist.
Times were tough but my grit was recognized and reinforced by the people around me. Even if it wasn’t labeled as such.
Being a wellness entrepreneur while losing Matt, losing Leland, and parenting super solo (sans the epic help from community and family which I’ll never not mention or praise) has been an experiment in gritty that I do not recommend.
Zero stars.
Actually, wait.
I’ll give it a few stars.
Here’s why:
I have my son full time. I do what I love. I practice what I preach. I am inspired and hopeful about my future and my son’s as well. I breathe new life into each day with gratitude that words can’t hold. I move mountains for my dreams. I create from overflow (that’s straight from my chatgpt affirmations). I get to be here. I get to see this thing through for as long as I’m allowed.
I must be strong, healthy, and buff-ish to do the above with presence, reliability, and fortitude.
Grit is not optional for a full and well lived life.
Billionaires know this.
So do you.
OKAYILOVEYOUBYEEE,
xx
Nic.

pppps. THE LATEST EPISODE OF SHOCK AND YALL IS OUT NOW and I’m speaking with DANELLE DELGADO. No big deal but this is a huge deal… She is one of the top female businesswomen on my list of dream guests from long before my podcast launched. Danelle’s heart and life story are one of a kind. A now serial entrepreneur, Ted X speaker, international high level online business coach, best selling author of her book I CHOOSE JOY, cancer survivor, and single mother of 3. She reminds us how alike we all are and what matters most is that we are closer than we realize to having what we really, truly want. Danelle asks us to examine ourselves first which is a philosophy I stand behind as well. Her very generous social media posts and videos are packed with wisdom, advice, tweetable quotes, and an ocean of love. You can feel it through the screen and you’ll hear it in her voice shortly. Her story is as powerful as they come and she has been on my baddie female entrepreneur list since 2020. Get excited because this woman is about to rock your world. Take a listen and LMK what you think…
Here are a few clips…enjoy, listen and please share with your friends…
