Be Chalant.
I had an experience this weekend in a dating scenario that I need to unpack with you… Publicly… I know… It’s wild.
I mentioned previously that I won’t be sharing much about my dating experiences in detail but this lesson moves past the act of courtship.
On Valentine’s Day, I received an enormous bouquet of flowers, a handwritten letter and about 20 single roses to hand out to my students in my yoga class… I was so caught off guard by this gesture that I did not even realize the roses were individually wrapped (and meant for my students) until an hour after class … Also an embarrassing testament to how familiar I am with “actual flowers”. Lol.
Now before all of your alarm bells go off please understand that the person that made this delivery is true to form. This person shows up with 110% enthusiasm in calls and texts and FaceTime and in person … it checks out.
But of course it got me thinking …
How have we as a society grown so accustomed to nonchalant.
People acting unbothered.
People keeping everything in check.
People putting on masks and behaviors that keep them contained.
When you interact with people that are living so vibrantly and out loud (you know —> CHALANT), it can be jarring.
It might even cause you to be on guard. These people are few and far between and I think there’s something to learn from them.
I have no idea if Mr. Flowers is my person. That’s not the point … The point is that this man walks his talk and moves to the beat of his own drum.
It’s refreshing. It’s shocking. Quite honestly I’m a little bit envious … I thought I lived at 100% but this man does it while being in service to others. Like that’s literally his job. To be in service to the most underprivileged of us all.
The internet relationship coaches will tell you that the best place to learn about yourself is in relationship. We all think we’re mostly securely attached, a total prize, and ready for true love until we get into relationship with another person and all of our deep wounding and mirroring arises.
<le sigh>
You know that I look for lessons. There have been so many over the course of the last 72 hours that it was hard to land on one as I’ve got so much more to unpack.
The tip of this ice berg is that you could be “chalant”.
You could show up with full tilt enthusiasm, a grand gesture, a heartfelt note, a phone call that elevates and inspires someone.
The unbothered and passive choice is just … not it.
Speaking honestly, I don’t need any more apathetic anything.
In a sea of humans being terribly lukewarm … dare to BE CHALANT.
And if you do, you better let me know how it goes …
OKAYILOVEYOUBYEEE,
xx
Nic.

pps. NEW EPISODE OF SHOCK AND Y’ALL IS OUT NOW. I’m speaking with JASON SHURKA. Jason is a spiritual teacher, author, and founder of UNIFYD TV and UNIFYD Healing — and this conversation lives way beyond surface-level wellness. Jason’s work was forged through experience, not theory. After surviving multiple injuries and near-death experiences, his life took a sharp turn toward understanding energy, consciousness, and the body’s innate ability to heal when given the right environment. That search led him to The Light System a technology now available in over 440 centers worldwide, designed to support holistic healing and unlock human potential at levels most people didn’t even know were accessible. We’re talking about light therapy rooted in nature — Fibonacci sequences, light and frequency — where science and spirituality stop arguing and start collaborating. Jason has witnessed remarkable healing from individuals and families and even pets who’ve experienced profound shifts using EES, especially in cases of chronic illness where conventional approaches hit a wall. At the heart of Jason’s work is a simple but radical idea: when we align with the intelligence of nature, the body remembers how to heal.
This episode is gonna be expansive. It’s curious. It might challenge what you think you know about energy, medicine, and possibility.
Get excited … and let me know what you think:
